NATIONAL DISSERTATION AWARDS
Postgraduate Department of English, KAHM Unity Women’s College, Manjeri is instituting awards for quality Postgraduate Dissertations in English Language and Literature. The awards will be presented to the three most outstanding Postgraduate dissertations produced by the MA English students studied under regular scheme in the educational institutions in India.
Janab Korambayil Ahamed Haji had cut new and inspiring road ahead for the centralization of women of backward Muslim majority area of Malabar with the founding of Unity Women’s College at Narukara, in Manjeri of Malappuram District, Kerala. The empowerment this act had resulted in is yet another enlightening chapter in the resurgence of Malabar educationally and culturally.
Department of English offers mighty tributes to the stalwart of the region with the first ever Postgraduate Dissertation awards instituted in the state. Implemented in 2014, the venture proved an impressive endeavour to encourage the best students of the state of Kerala. We are inviting entries for the Korambayil Ahmed Haji Dissertation Awards from the institutions in Kerala offering Postgraduate degree in English Language and Literature. Each Department can forward the best dissertation submitted in 2017-18.

Purpose To provide award and recognition to the outstanding full-time postgraduate students who have passed their theory exams, have received approval of the examination board and are about to be formally awarded their postgraduate degrees.
Number of awards There will be a total of three awards for the top three dissertations. The top award would carry a certificate and a cash award of Rs.10,000/- , the next one in quality will be awarded a certificate and and Rs.6000/- cash award. The dissertation in the third slot will carry a certificate and and Rs.4000 /- in cash.
Eligibility The awards will be for those students who have completed all course work, examination requirements and have received the approval of the university boards. The students must have completed their examinations and submitted their dissertations during the academic year 2016-17 in colleges/ university departments.
Application One nomination per college/ university department may be submitted by the head of the department.
A descriptive summary of the topic in 500 words should be sent to the mail id, email@example.com.

Selection Process The selection process has two stages:
- the initial screening process which will short list the total dissertations for the final presentation
- the short listed dissertations will be presented to the Jury on the Dissertation Awards day and an open defence will decide the three final winners.
The decision of the Jury will be final.
